During my first semester of community college in the fall of 1998, I enrolled in a photography course at Laney College in Oakland. The class didn't offer any useful credits to my general education requirements for a transfer to a four-year university. But I was really interested in photography at the time. It was during this semester that I decided to pursue a major in writing and directing films. Just a few months earlier during my high school graduation, I didn't even have any idea what field I wanted to get into.
